Water Main Break Updates

Due to the broad size difference between the existing pipe and our ductile iron pipe, Baker Coupling Co. supplied DWP with a filler type gasket that will sit on the smaller pipe along with the traditional gasket, allowing the coupling to seal. We have never utilized this type of method and want a contingency plan if this coupling should fail. We are in the process of purchasing two 30 inch couplings from Smith-Blair that should take 5 to 7 days to be delivered. Once we get confirmation of the delivery date, we will schedule the work. In the meanwhile, the excavation is safe and we do have an “all shifts check” to monitor any steel plate movement
